2/17/11
· Open House – March 14th – same week as Adult Ed Week
Get Student Leadership involved
Hold classes people come on tours
TO DO: Make everything look good
· Budget – It could be worse. Won’t replace custodian or babysitter ($89,000 savings)
· ABE Ceremony – turn benchmarks in to Larry
· Distance Learning – office staff at ACT refer citizenship students to AE Center for Distance Learning
· PowerPoint – use screens PLC need longer blocks of time to work together
· Suggested: CASAS score chart Reading Assessment now can move on
· Suggested: conference with students to discuss scores, pamphlets needed
· Redesigning registration form
· Suggested: stepping forward verbal assessment
· Must alternate CASAS tests odd/even
· If not showing up something else even
· Follow form telling you what test to take (most necessary if student moves to new class)
· Students do not need to be tested in classroom choice:
· Your choice: do either test entire class beginning/end testing center for stragglers, convenient to send to center
ESL issue:
1. Certificates on advancement/level
2. Request them from Sylvia (hrs. put on certificate from attendance office)
3. Consistent criteria work with teachers
4. Everyone teaching wrong levels (move with your class) change titles of class decide in March
5. Promotional testing uniform at both sites, use materials supplied
Competencies by class: share materials on smart board
Summer School
1. H.S. courses for high school students
2. Ask Chris Dennis what do you need
3. 6-8 graders
4. Ask businesses what do you need
5. Asian community
6. Need personal relationship with K-12
